Call me crazy, but I’m not about to spend $100 or more for a set of vacuum formed fiberglass dock steps. In fact, I don’t even want to spend $10. Add to that my practical laziness, and subtract the long hours I’m NOT willing to invest in building dock furniture – I came to a simple, cheap solution – Milk Crates! Screw them together and add some plywood steps and paint – voila! I added a few strips of skateboard grip tape we had @ the shop. Tell everyone on the gangway it’s Reclaimed Rattan!
3 Reasons Modular Milk Crate Dock Steps are the way to go:
1 – They’re FREE. A windfall awaits you in the alley behind your local eateries, restaurants and pubs.
2 – They’re lightweight, sturdy, and completely resistant to the harsh marine environment. Seriously, with a half-life of 1000 years – forget about it.
3 – They’re FREE.
If you don’t like the possibility of being mistaken for a dumpster diver, West Marine will sell you there proprietary branded crates for $19.99. No matter how many coats of paint you put on it, it will still say “Sucker” from a distance.
Sure, the yacht club cronies may point at and deride the testament to your frugal ingenuity, but you can dry your eyes with the $92 you just saved.
You are a genius, and $92 buys a lot of reward beer!
…Or ONE really, really BIG BEER!!!
